Syntiant Secures Funding From Intel, Others For Edge Computing
Irvine-based Syntiant, a developer of semiconductors used for "edge computing" and machine learning applications, has raised a Series A round of funding, led by Intel Capital, Syntiant said on Tuesday. The size of the funding round was not disclosed. The round also included Seraph Group, Danhua Capital and Embark Ventures. Syntiant says it is developing ultra low power semiconductor designed designed for analog neural computation on battery-powered devices, including mobile phones, drones, wearables, and other devices. Syndiant said its semiconductors can perform neural computation locally, faster, and more efficiently than traditional CPU, GPU and DSP options. Syntiant's CEO is Kurt Busch. The company is part of the EvoNexus incubator. More information »
