Teledyne Gets $23M To Supply Infrared Detectors To NASA
Thousand Oaks-based Teledyne reports that it has won a $23M contract award, to supply infrared detectors to NASA's WFIRST astronomy mission. According to Teledyne, it is supplying a 4096x4096pixel focal plane array, the H4RG-10, to NASA, as part of the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST) Project at the NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. Teledyne said the WFIRST mission will launch mid-2020, and will have nearly 300 times as many pixels as there are on the Hubble Space Telescope. The NASA mission will survey large areas of the sky to measure the effects of dark matter and dark energy on the distribution of galaxies in the universe, according to Teledyne.
