The Active Network Jumps On Green Racing Effort
San Diego-based The Active Network, which operates a network of web sites and related products for community service and sports organizations, said today that it has launched a new program focused on "eco-friendly" practices in endurance racing. The company said the effort, which looks to encourage environmentally friendly practices with race organizations, is being launched in conjunction with Athletes for a Fit Planet. The green effort gives a "Sustainability seal" to event organizers--in addition to resources, specific promotion on Active.com, and discounts to services and products from Active and Athletes for a Fit Planet--who promise to do ten specific things to reduce environmental impact of their events. Those efforts include eliminating paper registration forms and providing recycling bins at events. The effort is specifically tied to Active's ActiveEndurance division, which provides electronic registration and related service for endurance racing organizations.
