Uber Plans Federal Lawsuit Against LA
Uber is planning to file a federal lawsuit against Los Angeles, claiming that LA's requirement that on-demand scooter and last-mile transportation companies provider real-time location data on where its customers are raises privacy concerns. According to CNET, Uber claims the Los Angeles request is "surveillance", and that Los Angeles does not need the kind of data it is requiring providers to provide to the city. The Los Angeles Department of Transporation (LADOT) mad providing that location data to the city a requirement to operate a last mile scooter or transportation in the city.
