UCLA Licenses DNA Detection Technology
Emeryville-based Nanomix said that it has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with UCLA for technology for detecting biomolecules such as DNA and proteins. The agreement gives Nanomix the right to use and further develop the UCLA technology, which was invented by Dr. George Gruner at UCLA. Nanomix is developing a biomolecule detection system aimed at such applications as glucose monitoring, infectious disease detection, and homeland security. UCLA has an active technology licensing program where the university seeks to licesnse technology developed by its faculty and through its research projects to commercial organizations.
