Ultimate Ears Acquired By Logitech

Irvine-based Ultimate Ears, a maker of in-ear monitors for professional musicians, has been acquired by electronics accessories maker Logitech, Logitech said Thursday. Logitech said it would pay $34M in cash for Ultimate Ears, which was founded in 1995. According to Logitech, Ultimate Ears employs nearly 40 people, and will allow the firm to expand its portfolio of digital audio products. Ultimate Ears' in-ear monitors are used by on-stage musicians and sound engineers; the firm also has a product line of consumer earphones for portable music and MP3 players. The firm's products range from $40 for its consumer products to as much as $1200 for custom-fit stage monitors, used by touring rock musicians.
