Vubiq Networks Deploys In Seattle
Irvine-based Vubiq Networks, which develops ultra high speed networking equipment which uses unlicensed, 60 GHz spectrum, said it has deployed its products in Seattle, Washington, in a deal with Atlas Networks. The two said they now are providing fast Internet service to over 200 buildings in Seattle. The two did not discuss how much equipment was required in the install, or any financial term of the deal. Vubiq's hardware is currently being used for "last-mile" type of installations, as an alternative to fiber-optic cable, which is extremely expensive due to the amount of infrastructure involved in extending a fiber link. Vubiq and Atlas said it costs more than $100 per foot in such areas as Seattle to run underground fiber.
