VY Esports Gets Seed Funding
Santa Monica-based VY Esports, a new startup focused on connecting esports, brands, and media companies, said on Thursday that it has raised a seed funding round. Size of the funding was not announced. VY Esports said the seed funding was led by Raine Ventures, and also included Courtside Ventures, Elysian Park Ventures, and others. Blair Ford of Raine Ventures joins the company's board as part of the funding. VY Esports is led by Oleg Butenko. The startup said the new funding will go towards talent acquisition, to build its operations, and for partner relationships. Elysian Park Ventures is the venture capital arm of the Los Angeles Dodgers ownership group; Courtside Ventures is the venture capital firm of Dan Gilbert, the owner of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers.
