WD Announces New Hard Drive Line
Lake Forest-based Western Digital, a maker of hard drives, said today that it has introduced a new hard drive family it is targeting for the audio and video markets. WD said that its new 3.5-inch WD AV hard drives are specifically targeted at video recording OEMs. The new drives will range from 80 GB to 500 GB and will be available through distribution. WD said that the new drive line will specifically increase reliability to 1 million hours MTBF, for set-top boxes, personal video records, IP gateways, and surveillance systems. The drive are available with EIDE and SATA interfaces.
