WD Buys Arkeia Software
Irvine-based disk drive manufacturer Western Digital said this morning that it has acquired backup software provider Arkeia, which was based in Carlsbad. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. According to WD, the acquisition was made via a merger transaction, and included all of the employees, technology, and products of Arkeia. The company said that it will integrate Arkeia into its Branded Products SMB unit. Arkeia software is a developer of backup and recovery software aimed at small and medium sized businesses. In conjunction with the acquisition, WD said it has released a new version of Arkeia's Network Backup software, and will continue to sell products under the Arkeia name.
