WD Expands In Singapore
Irvine-based hard drive maker Western Digital reports this morning that it has opened up a new, research and development center in Singapore. WD said it will invest approximately $390M USD over the next five years, for a plant acquisition, capital equipment, and more for the center. WD said the move will allow it to tap into the talent pool and expertise of such organizations as Singapore's A*STAR Data Storage Institute (DSI), which it also said it has linked with on development of advanced head, media, and hard drive system designs.
