WebMessenger Launches Mobile Skype Service
Los Angeles-based WebMessenger, a provider of VoIP and instant messaging products, has rolled out a new service that ties its software into the popular Skype Voice-over-IP system. WebMessenger said that its new WebMessenger Mobile for Skype provides presence detection on mobile devices, allows users to make calls to Skype contacts, receive call through their Skype accounts, and can make outgoing calls using a user's Skype account. The new software runs on BlackBerry, Palm, Pocket PC, Windows Mobile 5.0, and J2ME phones. WebMessenger said that it will offer both a free version as well as a paid version with a monthly subscription fee, offering different level of capabilities.
