Whisper Energy Systems Aims At Small Engines
A new, Los Angeles-based startup, Whisper Energy Systems, said Thursday that it has partnered with electric carRpioneer Wally Rippel, on developing a new Lithium-powered device to replace small internal combustion engines. Rippel who was behind some of the first electric vehicles, including the GM EV1 (GM Impact), as well as Tesla's early effort. According to Whisper Energy Systems, it is developing a new device it calls the WE Empower, which is designed to "kill the internal combustion engine for good." The company says its Lithium-battery powered device is a silent, drop-in replacement for the highly polluting and noisy small internal combustion engines used in ortable generators, lawn and garden equipment, and outdoor power tools. The company said it is receiving funding from the New Energy Nexus CalSEED fund for its efforts, via a California Energy Commission CalSEED Concept Grant; details on how much funding it is receiving were not announced.
