DogVacay Debuts iPhone App For Hosts

DogVacay, the online peer-to-peer marketplace for dog sitting services, announced today that it has released its own, iPhone application which makes it easier for its hosts to manage bookings through the service. DogVacay said that the new app lets hosts accept bookings, message customers, create custom quotes, and send photo updates from their phone. DogVacay's online marketplace helps dog owners find other owners and pet sitters, who watch their dogs at their own homes, and is an alternative to impersonal kennels. DogVacay said the current app is only for hosts, but it hopes to have an app for guests in the future.

DogVacay's online marketplace is part of a trend giving people the ability to earn money from others in peer-to-peer marketplaces. The most successful and visible example of those marketplaces so far has been Airbnb, the online service which lets people rent out rooms to other people. Los Angeles-based DogVacay itself grew out of its founders' success in running their own, dog sitting business out of their home.
