Autonomy Places Order For 23,000 Electric Vehicles

Santa Monica-based subscription electric vehicle service Autonomy---headed by longtime tech/auto veteran Scott Painter--says it has placed an order for 23,000 electric vehicles, from 17 different global automakers. The company said the orders are an effort to "expand and diversify" its fleet beyond Tesla. The company said it expects those orders to be delivered between 6 and 18 months. The order, according to Autonomy, is 1.2 percent of the projected U.S. electric vehicle production through the end of 2023. Autonomy said the orders are worth a total of $1.2 billion.
