FindTheBest Lands $11M For Comparison Engine
FindTheBest, the online comparison and research site headed by former DoubleClick founder Kevin O'Connor, said this morning that it has raised $11M in a Series B funding round. The round was led by New World Ventures, and also included Montgomery & Co., Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, an dothers. According to the company, the new funds will go to enter new market segments, to expand internationally, and build out monetization of its platform.
FindTheBest, which is based in Santa Barbara, offers up an online site which compares thousands of different kinds of information, letting users filter and rank everything from electronics products, to dog breeds, to colleges. The site uses both user and expert opinions to help create a "smart rating" of different things, to help users make decisions on any number of areas. The site currently is divided into categories, covering topics and products in the areas of Business, Education, Electronics, Health, Home & Family, Motors, Software, Sports & Recreation and Travel & Lifestyle
FindTheBest grew out of O'Connor's own efforts trying to research and compare different products and information online, to find ski resorts, schools for his kids, and more.
