Maverick Angels, one of the angel investment groups in the Los Angeles area, said this afternoon that the group is launching two new chapters, expanding into the Santa Barbara and South Bay area. According to a note from John Dilts, the angel group's founder and President, the move comes due to the increase in entrepreneurs coming to angel groups, given the retracting availability of funding from banks and venture capital firms. The group said the new Santa Barbara chapter is launching on June 22nd, and the new South Bay Chapter, which will be based in Palos Verdes, will launch with an event on July 14th. Dilts is also one of the founders of The Biotech Forum, which has been looking to boost investments and biotech related startups in the Ventura County area.
