NASA Gears Up To Launch Mission To Mars, From Vandenberg

Another exciting space launch--this time, from NASA--is set to launch from Vandenberg Air Force base on Saturday, as NASA looks to send a mission to Mars, the first planetary mission to take off from the West Coast. According to NASA, it is targeting a launch on Saturday, May 5th, at 4:05 a.m. PDT on Saturday, from Space Launch Complex-3 at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Vandenberg--thanks in part to Los Angeles-based SpaceX--has become a hotbed of recent rocket launches. The NASA InSight mission (short for Mars, Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) will seek to study deep below the surface of Mars, with sensors to measure "marsquakes" and develop a map of the interior of Mars.
