San Diego-based Quorum Systems has released a new, ultra low power quad-band CMOS transceivers for the GSM wireless phone market. The developer of semiconductors said that its QS1000 single-chip CMOS quad-band radio frequency (RF) transceiver provides GSM/GPRS and EDGE capability and is designed for very low power operation. The hardware is targeted at handset manufacturers looking for low cost RF capability. Quorum is developing multi-mode radio technology implemented in standard CMOS process.
