8minute Solar Energy Wins 250MW Solar Project
Los Angeles-based 8minute Solar Energy reports that it has signed a contract to develop a new, 250MW solar power plus storage project in California. According to the company, the contract, with Monterey Bay Community Power Authority (MBCP) and Silicon Valley Clean Energy (SVCE), will supply Community Choice Energy (CCE) providers. The company said the project will include 150 megawatt hours (MWh) of energy storage, providing enough power for 93,000 homes. Financial details of the deal were not announced. California recently started allowing Community Choice Energy providers, where individual households and cities are able to select more aggressive, clean energy rather than what their utilities typically provide. 8minute Solar Energy said that the Aratina Solar Center will offset carbon emissions by approximately 430,000 metric tons each year, and will come online before the end of 2023.
