AeroVironment Links With Smart Grid Software Developer
Monrovia, California-based AeroVironment, which develops both electric vehicle chargers as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, said on Tuesday that it has linked with smart grid charging technology developer eMotorWerks. The two said they will integrate eMotorWerks Juicenet smart-grid EV charging platform into Aerovironment's line of EV charging solutions. Financial details of the deal were not announced. AeroVironment provides its chargers both to OEMs, as well as directly to consumers. The two the integration adds smartphone, web and Amazon Alexa voice control over charging, real time and historic energy usage for cars, notifications of charging status, load balancing two or more EVSEs on the same electrical circuit to share the load while avoiding tripping breakers, and setting charging schedules that correspond to lower utility rates. AeroVironment's chargers are being used by Volvo and General Motors, among others.
