Amonix Breaks Ground In Vegas
Seal Beach-based Amonix, the maker of concentrated photovoltaic solar power systems, said Thursday afternoon that it has broken ground on a new factory in Las Vegas. According to Amonix, the new plant is expected to begin manufacturing in Q1 of 2011, and is expected to create 278 jobs at the location. Amonix said the new factory will manufacture concentrated photovoltaic solar power systems for installations in Nevada, as well as for export to neighboring states. The factory is expected to be able to product 150MW annually. Amonix is venture backed by Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers, Adams Street Partners, Angeleno Group, PCG Clean Energy & Technology Fund, Vedanta Capital LP, New Silk Route, The Westly Group, and MissionPoint Capital Partners, and most recently raised a huge, $129.4M round in April.
