Boingo Buys Advanced Wireless Group
Los Angeles-based Wi-Fi network operator Boingo WIreless said Thursday that it has acquired Advanced Wireless Group, a provider of Wi-Fi access to airports in the United States. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. According to Boingo Wireless, Advanced Wireless Group (AWG) is the second largest airport Wi-Fi provider in the US, operating seventeen public Wi-Fi networks at U.S> airports. Those facilities include Los Angeles International (LAX), Charlotte/Douglas International (CLT), Miami International (MIA), Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP), Detroit Metropolitan Airport (DTW), and Boston Logan International (BOS). Boingo said that by acquiring AWG, it will now operate nearly 60% of North America's top 50 airports, and 40% of the world's top 50 airports.
