CalAmp Licenses Patent
Oxnard-based CalAmp said Tuesday that the firm has entered into a patent license agreement with SKYWATCH GPS LLC, a provider of GPS-enabled vehicle tracking solutions. Financial terms of the patent deal were not disclosed. CalAmp said that the patents relate to vehicle location systems for helping automobile finance companies locate and repossess vehicles. CalAmp acquired the patents as part of its acquisition of the Aercept Vehicle Tracking business of AirIQ last year. The patent license is the result of a number of patent infringement suits the firm has against competitors in the business; the firm has three other outstanding suits against companies over the patents.
