DroneBase Takes Minecraft To The Skies Using AR
Think "Minecraft" meets "drone pilot", and what you get is AirCraft, a new augmented-reality app which lets drone pilots "build" a Minecraft-like world through flying their drones. DroneBase--the Los Angeles-based drone platform developer which is backed by Union Square Ventures, Upfront Ventures, Accel Partners, SV Angel and DJI--said its new AirCraft platform is designed to let either commercial or recreational pilots use their drone to "reate, edit, and share objects in the sky". The new app was released on iOS on Friday, and the company says it is soon rolling out an Android version of the software. The app lets drone pilots create augmented reality (AR) 3D designs with "different colors and textures" and appear "virtually" in the sky.
