Episona Gets $4M For Male Infertility Testing

Pasadena-based Episona has raised $4M in seed funding, to go towards expansion of its male fertility testing product, Seed, the company said last week. According to Episona, the funding came from the Pasadena Angeles, as well as other high-net worth individuals from Pasadena and San Francisco. Episona develops an epigenetic test which examines DNA for risk factors related to male factor fertility and poor embryo quality. Episona has been offering up its test since October of 2016. The company is led by Dr. Alan Horsager. The company said the new funds go towards commercial expansion of its product, increase sales and marketing, and for further technology development. The company said its test is currently available in approximately two dozen fertility clinics in 12 states and Canada. More information »
