Esri Adds New Satellite Imaging From Sentinel-2 Satellite
Redland-based geographical information systems (GIS) provider Esri said on Monday morning that it is extending its suite of satellite images for its service, adding Sentinel-2 Earth Observation Satellite images, for any location in the world. Those images--from the European Space Agency's Sentinel-2 satellite--is at a 10 meter resolution, and updates every 5 to 7 days. Esri said those images can be used for improved monitoring of agricultural and forest conditions, monitoring of land cover changes and to assist with natural disaster management. Those images are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ESA's Sentinel-2 images are already available publicly online, however, the integration into Esri's ArcGIS Living Atlas of the World (Living Atlas) makes it far easier for its customers to access and use those images.
