LA Clippers Turn To Computer Vision, Software Analytics To Improve Shooting
The Los Angeles Clippers are turning to software analytics to help improve their shooting percentages, according to software developer Noah Software. According to the software company and the Los Angeles Clippers, it has begun using analytics software to help players in accurately tracking shots during practice, to use analytics to help iprove shooting percentages for the team. The new technology uses computer vision technology and algorithms to track where a shot originated from, whether or notthat schot scored, entry angle, shot depth, and left-right position of the ball. All of that information is fed into a system to help players know exactly why they missed a shot, and provides suggestions on how a player can improve their shooting. The LA Clippers and Noah Software did not say how much the team has invested in the system, which uses a camera mounted thirteen feet above the basketball rim to analyze those shots.
