Newegg Launches Fundraising Effort For California Fire Relief
Los Angeles-based electronics e-commerce giant Newegg says it is pitching in to help raise funds for California fire relief. According to Newegg, it is giving its customers the option to make small, individual donations to the Los Angeles Fire Department in $1, $5, $10, $25 and $100 increments. The company says it will provide a dollar-for-dollar match on those donations, up to $100,000. According to the company, the funding will go to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, which provides the LAFD with fire-prevention tools, equipment and resources to help protect homes and save lives. Southern California, although spared most the fires that have plagued Northern California, has the more than 100,000 acr Bobcat Fire burning in the San Gabriel Mountains. That particular fire is actually in the jurisdiction of the Angeles National Forest, in Los Angeles County; that area is covered by federal fire assets, as well as the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD), which is a different department from LAFD.
