ORFID Licenses UC Patents
Los Angeles-based ORFID Corp (www.orfid.com) has signed a licensing agreement with the University of California for two patents in the area of organics electronics technology. The patents cover a process for injet printing organic semiconductor devices, as well as devices and systems based on the process. The patents were invented by Dr. Yang Yang, one of the co-founders of ORFID and a professor at UCLA. ORFID is developing technology to create Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), Field Effect Transistors (FETs), sensors, and photodetectors processed using the patented hybrid inkjet printing technology, and expects that the devices will cost dramatically less to manufacture than current silicon-based devices.
