Pentadyne Buys UK Firm
Chatsworth-based Pentadyne Power, a developer of flywheel-based storage systems, said Thursday afternoon that it has acquired TGT Energy Ltd., a UK-based developer of flywheel technology for rail and energy recycling applications. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. TGT Energy Ltd., which is based in the UK, has been working with Pentadyne since 2007. Pentadyne said the flywheel technology it is acquiring from TGT is used to absorb braking energy from slowing trains, and used to recycle that energy back to the train for acceleration--similar to regenerative braking in hybrid cars.
