Pentadyne Ships Flywheel Based Medical Power System
Anaheim-based Pentadyne Power has rolled out a new flywheel-based medical grade power system for high peak-power diagnostic equipment. The company said that its new system designs power for CT scanners, linear accelerators, and MRI and radiography and other medical systems. The system replaces lead-acid batteries with its own flywheel system, providing UPS capability in a much smaller space and with less cost and environmental impact of lead-acid batteries. Pentadyne power is a startup developing flywheel power systems for providing high quality, reliable power. The company is backed by Nth Power, DTE Energy, Sempra Energy, Rustic Canyon, and Accera Venture Partners.
