Rocket Lab Plans Launch For NASA
Long Beach-based Rocket Lab USA says it is planning to launch a constellation of satellites for NASA, starting next month. According to Rocket Lab, it will be launching four satellites--the TROPICS constellation--in two separate, dedicated Electron missions from New Zealand. The satellites are designed to track hurricanes and cyclones. The company said the TROPICS constellation (Time-Resolved Observations of Precipitation Structure and Storm Intensity with a Constellation of Small Sats) will monitor the formation and evolution of tropical cyclones, including hurricanes, and will provide rapidly updating observations of storm intensity.
