SpaceX Sends Another Rocket To Space, Finally Lands Rocket On Barge
Hawthorne-based SpaceX has successfully launched another mission to space--and most notably, has finally successfully landed the first stage of its Falcon 9 rocket on its oceangoing barge. The landing try for SpaceX is the fifth time that SpaceX has attempted to land its rocket stage on its "ocean droneship", as part of its efforts to re-use the first stage of its rockets in future missions. If successful, reuse of components from that first stage would dramatically lower costs for SpaceX to send its rockets to space. The SpaceX CRS-8 mission is delivering supplies to the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA. SpaceX says that its Dragon spacecraft is now on its way to the ISS, and is expected to dock with the space station on Sunday.
