StartEngine Heads North For Joint Demo Day
How do you get above the noise of the many startup accelerators and incubators in Los Angeles, and convince investors--many of them on Sand Hill Road--to look at your firms? In the case of Westwood-based StartEngine, you head up to Silicon Valley and run a joint demo day with another accelerator, YouWeb. StartEngine, which is run by former Activision CEO Howard Marks and investor Paul Kessler, said Wednesday that it is banding together with Menlo Park-based tech incubator YouWeb to present to around 100 Silicon Valley investors. The two said they will present 20 companies at their event on May 1st. YouWeb is headed by Peter Relan, and its firms include OpenFeint, CrowdStar, iSwifter, and spaceport.io.
