UCSB Ramps Spinoff Efforts
The University of California Santa Barbara said Tuesday that the firm has launched a new program to accelerate the creation of spin-off businesses from the University's research. According to UCSB, its new Venture Acceleration Initiative (VAI) program is focused on the process of moving technology from the lab to commercialization. The school said that the new program will provide market analysis, validation, business model definition, and other services to entrepreneurs. The new program is headed by Dr. Don Oparah.
