Venture Backed CEOs Getting Paid More
A new survey from Dow Jones VentureOne is showing that executives at U.S. venture-backed companies have seen a boost in pay this year, with an increase of $10,000 over median pay versus last year. The publisher reports that total salary and bonus compensation for CEOs of venture-backed companies is a median of $263,000, compared to $252,000 last year. The average vice president at a venture-backed firm is earning a median of $180,000 in total compensation, and Director-level positions have hit $130,000. The numbers were released as part of a national compensation study. In the Southern California region, the average CEO pay was $265,000, which trailed compensation in the Northern California and Potomac region, where the average was $275,000.
