Viasat Gets Government Certification For Military Radio
Carlsbad-based satellite and wireless networking systems developer Viasat reports this morning that it has received a government certification on a military radio, the company's Link 16 radio, the Viasat Battlefield Awareness and Targeting System – Dismounted (BATS-D). The company said the authorization allows it to ship the units to U.S. government customers, effective immediately. The radios are known in the military as the AN/PRC-161, and are used for communications between a ground air attack coordinator and close air support (CAS) aircraft. The company said the device received National Security Agency (NSA) Type 1 certification.
