XCOR Aerospace Fails To Launch, Lays Off Rest Of Employees

Among a largely successful rush to establish a vibrant commercial aerospace industry in Southern California, it appears one company--Mojave-based XCOR Aerospace--has failed to launch. XCOR has apparently laid off all of its employees, due to the inability of the company to raise money. XCOR--which has been working on developing a "space plane" since at least 2005--said the layoffs came due to "adverse financial conditions", although it apparently is still looking for funding. XCOR has yet to have demonstrate its suborbital spaceplane, and never launched its rocket engines. The company's inability to get to space means that a significant number of pre-purchased tickets for space flights on XCOR's vehicles--including 23 given away by AXE back in 2013, and a number of fans who were given tickets in a promotion for the film INTERSTELLAR by Fandango in 2014--will never be used.
