Linksys, Skype Partner On Cordless Handset
Cisco's Irvine-based Linksys division and populuar voice-over-IP firm Skype said yesterday that the two companies are marketing a new cordless phone to provide connectivity to the Skype service without sitting in front of a computer. A new Internet Telephony Kit will allow users to make free Skype calls without sitting at a computer, and will be available at online and at retailers. The cordless phone connects through a USB base station connected to a computer, and includes a handset which works like a normal cordless phone. The handset includes a display of a caller's contact list on its display. Pricing is set at $129.99.
