Qualcomm Ships Handsets Based on RF CMOS Technology
San Diego-based Qualcomm announced this morning that it has shipped handsets based on its RF CMOS processing technology. Qualcomm's chipsets are expected to lower the cost of wireless devices in emerging markets. Hisense, LGE, and Samsung are using the new RF CMOS chipsets for CDMA2000, in India, China, and Latin America. RF CMOS is a low-cost, high-volume process technology which integrates radio frequency components on CMOS chips, lowering the cost of including wireless RF circuitry. The company also said that other manufacturers are in the process of including the new chipsets in their wireless products.
